Enzymes run the biochemical reactions in living things including humans, animals, and plants. This means that enzymes do the “work” in the body whereas vitamins and minerals, also known as coenzymes, are only building blocks. What isn’t commonly understood is how important enzymes are to digestion and to the concept of staying healthy.
Food is fuel for living. It contains essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, protein, vitamins, and minerals to keep our bodies healthy and strong.
However, with environmental pollutants, GMO altered foods, and a host of other issues that can affect our health, the human body can become compromised so that it can no longer process food.
Chronic pain in certain muscle groups –stress points– indicate enzyme deficiencies. To determine if you are processing your food for optimal health we do 3 things:
- We palpate the stress points on an empty stomach to see which are tight. You drink 6 oz of a combination of carbs, protein and fat. After digesting for 45 minutes, we palpate again to determine which stress points are still tight.
- You complete a comprehensive questionnaire about your medical history and eating habits.
- You complete a 24 hour urine analysis.
When we have all 3 pieces of information, an enzyme program will be recommended along with any dietary modifications so that you will reach optimal health.
